Phyllis Mundy...On the Issues that Matter
to Families and Individuals

Schools and Jobs

Phyllis knows that good schools help our kids succeed, attract new jobs and enhance the education and skills of our workforce. She believes that early childhood education is key to a strong foundation for future school success. She was the prime sponsor of Governor Rendell’s successful proposal to offer pre-school, full day kindergarten and smaller class size in the early grades.

  • She continues to work towards making college or advance technical training more affordable for all Pennsylvanians so they have the skills they need to succeed in the new economy. In 2005, Phyllis supported the Governor’s economic stimulus package, which included the creation of the Job Ready PA initiative, which provides programs to Pennsylvania workers to ensure that they have the skills they need to compete in the global economy, increase options for students to receive post-secondary education and boost the skills of high school graduates.

Protecting At-risk Children and Families

Many young children do not receive proper parenting or care. As a champion for the health and welfare of all children, Phyllis is a firm believer in the research based nurse home visitation program, which has been proven to improve parent-child relationships and enhance child development and school readiness. Legislation she sponsored to provide a stable funding source for this program is making its way to the Governor’s desk.
